Handmade card making and papercrafting tips and techniques

How to display BOTH sides of your Designer Series Paper

both sides of dsp

Designer Series Paper by Stampin’ Up! is double sided pattern paper which can make it very hard to decide which side of the paper to display on your project.  Cards usually only display one side of the pattern and the pattern on the other side is hidden when glued to the card base.  Well with this technique you can display BOTH sides of your designer series paper!  So, when you are faced with a hard decision about which side of the pattern paper to show off, why not spotlight BOTH sides!

Measurements

Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper (DSP) 4″ x 5-1/4″ and two 1″ x 5-1/4″
Coordinating Cardstock 5-1/2″ x 5-1/2″
White Cardstock 4″ x 5-1/4″ and a scrap to cut your label for your sentiment

Steps to Display Both Side of your Designer Series Paper

  1. Score your cardstock at 1-1/4 inches and crease it with your bone folder creating a small flap. This is your card base.
  2. Adhere one inch strip of DSP along the edge of the white cardstock then adhere it to the inside of the card base leaving equal size border on three sides.
  3. Adhere the other one inch strip of DSP on the front flap of your card base making sure to center it.
  4. Place your large piece of DSP ( 4″ x 5-1/4″ ) on top of the white cardstock on the inside. Then add adhesive to the back side of the flap and close it over the top of the DSP. When you open it, you should see one pattern on the inside and the other pattern on the outside of your card. Below picture is what the inside looks like.
  5. Punch or die cut a circle and stamp your sentiment using black ink. If you like, you can use a sponge dauber to add a touch of colored ink around the edges of the circle.
  6. Use stampin’ dimensionals to pop up your sentiment on the front
  7. Add ribbon or gems or both to embellish the card.
  8. Decorate your envelope to match. You could even add some matching DSP to the envelope flap.
