Triple Time Stamping Technique

I’m excited to share the Triple Time Stamping Technique with you today! I learned this technique many years ago and had completely forgotten about it until now. What I love about it is that it’s easy, fast, and fun. Plus, it leaves people wondering, “How did she do that?” The Triple Time Stamping Technique is also versatile—you can go fancy with your card or keep it simple.

I decided to use the All Aflutter Bundle but you can use any stamp set you like to make this card. The bundle and stamp set can be purchased separately, but you save 10% when you purchase them as a bundle. I also wanted to be able to use the paper punch to pop up a few butterflies using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. This adds a little more height and interest to the card.

Look how cute this two-step stamp set is below. Don’t you love the font used for the sentiments and the swirly stamp that makes it look like the butterflies are doing loop-de-loops? The stamps create three butterflies at once, and you can stamp the detail in one color and the background in a different color if you like. Then, the coordinating punch cuts all three butterflies out in one fell swoop!

Supplies and Measurements

Basic White Cardstock:

• 4″ x 5-1/4″
• 3″ x 4-1/4″
• 2″ x 3″
• scrap piece for sentiment and any extra stamped images (like the additional butterflies on this project)

Colored Cardstock (I used Crisp Canteloupe)

• 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored in half at 4-1/4″ (the card base)
• 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″
• 2-1/4″ x 3-1/4″

Any Stamp Set (I used All Aflutter Bundle for the butterflies and Thoughtful Octopus Stamp Set for the sentiment)
Tombow Mono Removable Adhesive
Tombow Mono Permanent Adhesive
Ink (I used Crisp Cantaloupe Ink)
Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals
Rhinestones (embellishments are optional)
Crisp Cantaloupe Shimmer Brush (optional for the splatter effect)

Triple Time Stamping Technique Directions

1. First, stack your three white rectangles from largest to smallest, with the largest piece on the bottom and the smallest on top. Use a small amount of removable adhesive between the layers to hold them securely in place while you stamp.
2. Randomly stamp your butterflies (or whatever image you chose) onto the stacked white card stock so that the images are stamped across all three cardstock layers at once if possible. That’s why it is called triple time stamping.
3. Take your three layers apart. Add permanent adhesive to the back of your biggest layer. Center it and adhere it to your card base.
4. Adhere the middle layer to the colored cardstock that measures 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″. Center it and adhere it to the card base.
5. Adhere the top layer to the colored cardstock that measures 2-1/4″ x 3-1/4″. Center it and adhere it to the top of the card base.
6. On a scrap piece of white cardstock, stamp your sentiment and adhere it to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
7. Next, I stamped more butterflies on some scrap white cardstock and used the punch to cut them out. I added Dimensionals to two of the butterflies and placed them on the card over the stamped image of the same size. This step is totally optional.
8. Then I added some rhinestones to the card and the butterflies.
9. Lastly to make it a little fancier, I splattered some shimmer ink onto the card. I used the Crisp Cantaloupe Shimmer Brush and my finger to tap it against and made the splatter effect.  Again this step is optional.

Want to dress it up? Add some ribbon, twine, or different embellishments! Prefer to keep it simple? That works too! You’re the cardmaker, so you get to decide—make it your own!
