Make Christmas Gift Card Holders

Christmas gift card holders

The holidays will be here before you know it and with that comes gift giving.  Gift cards are very popular to give especially when you are clueless what to buy for someone (like my grandkids).  Gift cards allow the receiver to buy whatever they desire and takes the pressure off the giver.  So I want to give you one idea regarding how to make Christmas gift card holders. What is nice about this tutorial is you can change up the colors and the designer series paper and make it a birthday gift card holder as well.

So let’s get started and make Christmas Gift Card Holders! Follow along with me.

Supplies Needed to make Christmas Gift Card Holders

  • Cardstock (red) 4 1/4″ x 10″ and second piece = 3″ x 4″
  • Cardstock (white) 4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside piece) and second piece = 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″
  • Liquid glue
  • Designer series paper (dsp) 2 1/2″ x 4″
  • Christmas stamp set
  • ribbon (approx 9 inches long) optional
  • embellishments (optional)
  • envelope

Directions

  1. First score your red cardstock base along the 10 inch side at 5 1/2″ and 8 1/4″. After you score, there will be 3 sections going from left to right. Section 1 is the smallest section measuring 1 3/4 inches from the edge to the score line.  Section 2 is the medium size section in between each of the two score lines and Section 3 the largest section from score line to the other edge measuring 5 1/2 inches.
  2. folded
  3. Next crease the 5 1/2 inch score inward and then crease the 8 1/4 inch score inward in the same direction toward the largest section 3.
  4. Add liquid glue along the top and bottom edges only of the smaller section 1. Refer to the picture below.
  5.   glue
  6. After that you should be able to fit a gift card in the opening once it is glued down.  See picture.

  8. Then attach the white cardstock that is your inside piece to the right of the score line on section 3.

  12. Then take your second smaller piece of white cardstock and attach it on top of the second piece of red cardstock leaving a small border around each edge.
  13. Add some liquid glue to the back left hand side only and adhere it to the top of your dsp so that half of the piece hangs over the inside white piece. Be sure you don’t put glue on the right hand side or you will glue your card shut!
  14. Stamp your sentiment inside using red ink making sure it is underneath the piece you just attached in the previous step. You want the inside sentiment to be hidden when the card is closed.christmas gift card holders inside
  15. Decorate the outside white cardstock with ribbon and/or embellishments, or stamped image, whatever you have on hand. I die cut poinsettias from red glitter paper and die cut/embossed the holly leaves.
  16. Finally don’t forget to decorate your envelope.
