Z Fold Card Technique

z fold card

Hi there!  So happy you found me!  Today I am going to share how to make a Z Fold Card.  There are many variations of the Z Fold but this variation is one of my favorites. Let’s get started! Note:  There is a link to my YouTube video below if any of the steps below are unclear.

Z Fold Card Supplies***

-Cardstock (any color you have on hand)
-White Cardstock
-Designer Series Paper (DSP) that coordinates with your cardstock
-Ribbon
-Stamp Set
-Ink
-Paper Trimmer/Scorer
-Adhesive or liquid glue

***Any of the supplies above can be purchased from my online store.

Instructions and Measurements

-White Cardstock piece should measure 4″ x 5-1/4″
-Cardstock for the card base (I used Sweet Sorbet) measures 6-3/4″ x 8-1/2″
-DSP measuring 1-7/8″ x 5-1/4″ (two pieces), 1-7/8″ x 1″ (3 pieces)
-Ribbon – approx. 10 inches

1. First take the Sweet Sorbet cardstock and position the 8-1/2″ at the top of your paper trimmer and score at 2-1/8″ and 4-1/4″.  Fold the card base in half and then fold the second score line in the opposite direction.

2. Next rotate your cardstock and cut off 1-1/4″ so you have a scored piece measuring 1-1/4″ x 8-1/2″ that will be used to make the Z fold at the bottom of the card.

3. Then, stamp your sentiment or any other images to decorate your white cardstock.

4. Adhere your white cardstock to the inside of your card base as shown below.

5. Then, tie your ribbon around one of the DSP pieces measuring 1-7/8″ x 5-1/4″

6. Next, take the scored strip (1-1/4″ x 8-1/2″) and adhere the end with the short score line to the right-hand corner of the card base on top of the white cardstock.

7. Adhere your other piece of DSP (1-7/8″ x 5-1/4″ ) just to the left of the white card stock in between the two score lines.

8. Lay your card flat and adhere the other end of the narrow Z fold piece to the left-hand side of the card base.  Only adhere it from the edge of the card base to the first score line.

9. Next attach the DSP that you tied your ribbon around on the left-hand side of the card base.

10. Then attach the 3 small pieces of DSP (1-7/8″ x 1″ ) along the narrow strip of card stock between the score lines.
