Every now and then I want to make a slimline card but can’t remember how. What size is a slimline card? If I can’t remember the measurements, then there are probably others out there that are asking that same question. So, I put together the tutorial below to help. Let me know if my instructions need anything added to make them clearer. Give it a try and share your creation. I’d love to see your version of the slimline card. Save this URL as a favorite so that you will never wonder again what size is a slimline card.
Supplies For Slimline Card
Links to my online store provided if you want to order any of the supplies below used to make this card.
White cardstock measuring 8 ½” x 7”
Designer Series Paper measuring 8 ¼” x 3 ¼”
Coordinating dsp color cardstock measuring 8 3/8” x 3 3/8”
White cardstock measuring 7 ¾” x 2 ¾”
A different color cardstock that coordinates with dsp measuring 7 7/8” x 2 7/8”
Multipurpose Liquid Glue or adhesive
Framed Florets Dies (or any oval dies)
Scrap of white cardstock for your stamped sentiment
Embellishments or gems
Stamp set for your sentiment (I used Framed Florets)
Card Base
Begin with an 8 ½” x 7” piece of Basic White Thick Cardstock. Score along the 7 inch side at 3 ½ inches and fold along the score line. This is your card base.
Layer 1&2
Next, adhere an 8 ¼” x 3 ¼” piece of Designer Series Paper (I used Fitting Florets dsp which is going away on 1/5/2023) to the 8 3/8” x 3 3/8” piece of coordinating color cardstock (I used soft succulent). Then adhere to the white card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue or adhesive.
Layer 3&4
Adhere a 7 ¾” x 2 ¾” piece of Basic White Cardstock to a 7 7/8” x 2 7/8” another piece of coordinating color cardstock (I used Polished Pink cardstock) together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue or adhesive then adhere it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Dimensionals pop the piece up and give it some added height.
Layer 5
Stamp the sentiment in Black Memento Ink onto a piece of Basic White Cardstock. Use the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, die cut the sentiment using the smaller oval Framed Florets die. Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back. Attach to the center of the card.
Then, using the Stampin’ Cut & Embossing machine, die cut a piece of your coordinating color cardstock using the largest oval Framed Florets die (or oval die). Adhere it to the card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue so that it frames your sentiment oval piece.
Use Paper Snips to cut the images from a piece of Fitting Florets Designer Series Paper (or whatever dsp you used in layer 1). Adhere images around the edges of the sentiment with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Lastly, add some embellishments or gems.
Pop it in a slimline envelope and mail it off to let someone enjoy your lovely creation!
