Ten Ways to Decorate Your Envelope

What better way to give someone a personalized handmade card than enclosed in a beautifully decorated envelope?  Today I’d like to give you ten ways to decorate your envelopes to match your handmade cards. Decorating your card envelope is a great way to add additional creativity and personalization so that your card really stands out from the rest. The receiver of the card will truly appreciate the extra special attention and care.  It is a fun and easy way to make your card even more meaningful and memorable.

#1 – Add Designer Series Paper to the Envelope Flap

You can adhere designer series paper to the envelope flap that matches the card. Just use a sheet of pattern paper that is a little larger than the envelope flap and trim off the excess after you adhere it.

#2 – Stamp on the Envelope

You can use stamps and ink to decorate the front and/or back of the envelope to match your card as shown.

#3 – Stamp on Cardstock

Stamp a fun pattern on some cardstock in a way that coordinates with your card and attach it to the envelope flap and trim off the excess cardstock around the edges of the flap.

#4 – Stamp and Emboss Cardstock

Stamp on a piece of cardstock a little larger than the size of the flap, emboss it to add texture and dimension and then adhere it to the envelope flap.  Trim off the excess cardstock.

#5 – Use Markers to Draw Lines

Use Stampin’ Write Markers and draw lines or create a design on the envelope flap or on cardstock and adhere to the flap.

#6 – Emboss the Flap of the Envelope

Use an embossing folder to emboss just the flap of the envelope.  Add color with a blending brush if desired.

#7 – Add Strips of Cardstock

Adhere small strips of cardstock to the envelope flap.

#8 – Add Fabric to the Envelope Flap

Adhere a piece of fabric to the flap of the envelope to impress the recipient.

#9 – Use Blending Brushes

Add color that coordinates with your card to the envelope flap using ink and a blending brush.

#10 – Add Glimmer Paper

Cut a piece of glimmer paper a little larger than the envelope flap, adhere it and then trim off the excess around the edges of the flap.
