Pen and Post It Note Holder

pen and post it note holder

I was looking for some small 3D project to make to sell at craft fairs and I found instructions for a cute little DIY Pen and Post It Note Holder.  They are really easy to make and you can give them as gifts, put one on your desk or whatever you want.  I hope you give it a try.

Pen and Post It Note Holder Supplies

Cardstock
Matching DSP (designer series paper/pattern paper)
Tear and Tape adhesive (or glue)
Scissors
Pen
Post It Notes

Pen and Post It Note Holder Measurements

Cardstock #1 measuring 5-1/2 inches x 8-1/2 inches (the pocket for the post it notes)
Cardstock #2 measuring 3-3/4 inches x 8-1/4 inches (the stand)
Cardstock #3 measuring 7/8 inches x 4-1/4 inches (the pen holder)
DSP 3-1/2 inches x 4 inches
DSP 3-1/2 inches x 2 inches

Instructions

  1. Take Cardstock measuring 5-1/2 inches x 8-1/2 inches and turn it landscape and score at 2-1/2 inches and 2-3/4 inches.  Next turn it portrait side and score at 3/8″ and 7/8 inches on BOTH sides.
  2. While the cardstock is portrait with the horizontal score lines towards the bottom, cut along the 7/8″ score line on both sides until you get to the first horizontal score line.  Then take your scissors and cut those two strips off.  Next cut horizontally along the second score line on both sides until you get to the 7/8″ score line and then shorten those two tabs by cutting vertically on the 3/8″ score line.  It should look like the picture below.

3. Adhere the DSP measuring 3-1/2 inches x 4 inches at the top of the cardstock leaving a border around the edges.

4. Then take the cardstock measuring 7/8 inches x 4-1/4 inches and score at 1/2 inches and 1 inch.  Fold it on the two score lines mountain fold then valley fold and adhere it directly beneath the DSP as shown. Then put some tear and tape on the 1/2″ piece.  This will create a space for your pen when you close the bottom piece over the top of it.  Also, fold your other score lines on the right and left side inward and put some tear and tape on the outer edges.  Create your pocket by folding the bottom piece up and over and adhering the two outer strips to the back of the top piece. The pen holder piece should adhere on the inside of the pocket.

4. Next take your cardstock measuring 3-3/4 inches x 8-1/4 inches and turn it landscape and score at 1/2″, 1-1/2 inches and 2-1/2 inches. Fold on the score lines to make a mountain fold and then a valley fold as shown below.  Apply tear and tape adhesive at the top and on the bottom 1/2-inch piece.  This accordion fold will create the easel stand for the holder. Attach it to the back of the pocket piece.
