How to Make Pop Up Cards

There are many ways to make a pop up card but today I am showing you a very quick and easy way how to make pop up cards.

Supply List and Measurements

Cardstock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches scored in half at 4 1/4 inches

Designer Series Paper (DSP) for the inside and the outside of the card measuring 4 x 5 1/4 inches

White cardstock for your sentiment on the outside of the card and the inside of the card

White cardstock for the pop up mechanism measuring 4 inches by 4 inches scored at 1″, 2″ and 3 inches

Adhesive

Some die cut images that you want to pop up (I used 3 Hippest Hippos stamped and die cut)

Steps how to make Pop Up Cards

  1. Adhere the DSP to the front of your card base
  2. Adhere the DSP to the inside of your card base
  3. Fold the score lines of your pop up mechanism cardstock until it looks like a square box.
  4. Put adhesive on the two ends of the pop up mechanism (from 0-1 inch end and 3-4 inch end)

5. Fold the mechanism in half (at the 2 ” score line). Adhere one end of your mechanism to the bottom inside of the card up against the score line of the card base. Then keeping the mechanism flat (folded in half), close the card so the other end of the mechanism adheres to the top inside of the card base.   See view below.

  1. Attach your die cut images to the front of the pop up mechanism (Optional step: you can decorate the front of the pop up mechanism with DSP measuring 1 inch by 4 inches before attaching your die cut images.)
  2. Stamp your sentiment to the white cardstock.  Attach your stamped sentiment on the inside and on the outside of the card. Decorate the front any way you wish.
  3. Now when you close the card the pop up mechanism will fold shut on the score line. Then when you open the card, the mechanism will pop up and display your die cut image(s).
