Do you like to give Gift Cards for birthdays or holidays? Do you need an idea for a handmade gift card holder? I recently made a handmade card and turned it into a gift card holder. The tutorial below is a quick and fun way to create a beautiful card while at the same time creating a pocket inside the card to hold the Gift Card. Let’s get started!
Supplies for Handmade Gift Card Holder
Cardstock 4-1/4″ x 11″ (card base) and 4-1/4 x 3-1/4″ (front flap) (I used Peaceful Pine)
Cardstock 5-1/4″ x 4″ (Real Red)
Basic White Cardstock 5″ x 3-3/4″ (inside) and 3-1/2″ x 2-1/4″ (front flap)
Rectangle or Scallop Die for the flap
Tear and Tape
Seal Adhesive
Designer Series Paper (I used Timeless Christmas DSP)
Adhesive Backed Christmas Berries
Harvest & Holly Mix and Match Ephemera Pack (sentiment)
Stampin’ Dimensionals
Circle Paper Punch
Directions
- Cut a 4 1/4” X 11” piece of Peaceful Pine Cardstock. Score at 2 3/4” and 5 1/2”. Trim about 1/4” off the end of the card to the left of the 2-3/4” score mark.

- Fold the 2-3/4” section inward and add tear and tape or glue at the top and bottom to make a pocket. Punch a half circle to make it easier to slide the gift card in and out of the pocket.

- Peel off the backing of the Tear and Tape and close the pocket that will hold the gift card.

- Cut and adhere a 4” X 5 1/4” piece of Real Red Cardstock to the inside of the card. Cut and adhere a 3 3/4” X 5” piece of Basic White Cardstock to the Real Red piece.
- Cut a 2 1/2” X 4” piece of DSP and adhere to the front of the card. Cut a 2″ X 4” piece of DSP and adhere to the inside of the card over the pocket.
- Next, stamp a sentiment or use ephemera for the sentiment on the 3-1/2″ x 2-1/4″ piece of Basic White Cardstock. Adhere it to a Peaceful Pine Rectangle.
- Adhere the front flap to the card with Dimensionals.
- Then decorate as desired with sentiments and ribbon or embellishments.

Change up the colors, the pattern paper, use a scallop die instead of a rectangle for the flap. Then use different sentiments and this handmade gift card holder can be used for birthdays, holidays, bridal showers or any other occasion.
