If you make handmade greeting cards or scrapbook, stamps are the core product used in producing these projects. Read the descriptions below to learn more about the seven kinds of stamps offered by Stampin’ Up! in my online store. Clear blocks are sold separately in a variety of sizes to fit the different size stamps. I’ll talk more about the clear blocks at the end of this post. Many years ago, rubber stamps were mounted on wooden blocks. But Stampin’ Up! has stopped selling those. They take up more storage space and since you can’t see through the wooden block they are harder to position and align properly on your projects. Some retail stores still sell the wooden block stamps.
Photopolymer Stamps
Photopolymer stamps are transparent for easy image placement and alignment, giving you even more creative possibilities with each set. You can mix and match, bend them, and layer images easily. They cling well to our clear blocks without slippage. If they should stop clinging to the acrylic block either the block or the back of the stamp needs cleaning with a little warm water. For the best results when stamping with photopolymer use a Stampin’ Pierce Mat for even pressure and complete ink coverage. The mat is not necessary with rubber cling stamps.
Cling Stamps
Die-cut, cling stamps are made of high quality, natural red rubber and have deeply etched images for stamping excellent detail. Behind the red rubber is foam material that helps distribute the ink more evenly when pressing the stamp down on cardstock. They come with an image label that clings well to the clear acrylic blocks without slippage. Both the Photopolymer and the Cling stamps can come as an image only, a sentiment only or as a background stamp. Background size stamps fill the majority of the card front.
Distinktive Stamps
These are a Stampin’ Up! exclusive! Get photo-realistic images with Distinktive stamps. They have a special texture that gives you the look of shading, depth, and dimension in a single step. Distinktive stamps are available in cling or photopolymer. They are a patent design which allows the image to look more like a photograph than a stamped image. Distinktive stamps require an ink pad that’s not too wet or too dry in order to capture the fine details.
Reversible Stamps
Double the value and fun with our Reversibles stamps. These specialized photopolymer stamps are double-sided—the back side is a solid mirror image that can be used to add color-fills to the stamped image on the reverse side. The solid image can also be used to create fun, abstract shapes for use on other projects.
Two-Step Stamps
Two-Step stamps have been designed to layer together to add additional color(s) or depth to an image. You would use two or more stamps to complete a full image. For example, first stamp gives the details of a flower then the second stamp fills in the background color of the flower.
Builder Stamps
Builder stamp sets include multiple pieces that are used together to create (build) an image, scene, or sentiment like the tractor stamp set below. The images can be stamped in different colors for a custom look! For example stamp the tractor in one color and the wheels and seat in a different color.

Clear Blocks
All cling and photopolymer stamps can adhere to the high-quality, reusable acrylic blocks. The grooves make for easy gripping. Alignment and image placement are much easier with the transparent blocks. Temporarily mount your stamps on clear blocks for stamping, then clean them and remove them for space-saving storage.

- Clear Block C: 2″ x 2-1/4″ (5.1 x 5.7 cm)

Tool Care
- To remove Classic ink or Memento ink from clear blocks, simply rinse them off with plain water, then dry with a soft cloth. (If possible, use a microfiber or lens cloth.)
- Use StāzOn Cleaner to remove StāzOn ink. Then, rinse off remaining residue with water and dry with a soft cloth.
- Remove any adhesive residue with a mild soap and water solution. Dry with a soft cloth.
