Pearlescent Embossing

Pearlescent Seashells

Have you tried adding ink to a 3D embossing folder?  Today’s Pearlescent Embossing technique uses Pearlescent Specialty Paper, Seashells 3D Embossing folder and Mint Macaron ink to create a stunning card!!  The Pearlescent Specialty Paper has a subtle glimmer that gives the card a nice, shiny appearance. I love anything to do with water so I picked the Seashells 3D embossing folder. The Seashells 3D Embossing folder is a perfect match to do what I am calling Pearlescent Embossing.  By adding ink to the embossing folder, your background has color added while the pearlescent look remains on your raised images.

Directions

  1. Add mint macaron ink (or soft sea foam) to your Seashell 3D embossing folder on the side that has the Stampin’ Up logo.  You can use a sponge roller to roll the ink on the embossing folder or sponge the ink on.
  2. Place the Pearlescent Specialty Paper inside the embossing folder and close it being careful not to move it around.
  3. Run the embossing folder through the embossing machine.  Notice the mint macaron ink fills in just the background and the raised images are still pearlescent.
  4. Attach the pearlescent embossed piece to the mint macaron cardstock leaving the same size border around the edges.
  5. Attach your ribbon around both pieces of cardstock
  6. Attach the embossed layer to your very vanilla card base. Be sure to center it.
  7. Stamp your sentiment on a scrap of very vanilla cardstock and die cut the oval stitched shape
  8. Die cut the scrap piece of mint macaron one size larger than the oval stitched shape used for the sentiment.
  9. Attach the two oval pieces. Then using dimensionals, attach on top of the ribbon
  10. Add 3 or 5 pearl gems (always use an odd number of gems which is more pleasing to the eye)
  11. Decorate your envelope.
  12. Mail it to someone and make their day!
