Fun Christmas Card Design

candy cane card

I know it is only September, but today I saw a similar Christmas card design that I loved and had to give it a try.  It turned out pretty cute, so I wanted to share this easy, fun Christmas card design with you.  What is nice about this design is that it features the front AND the back of my dsp or designer series paper.  By trimming off one inch of cardstock on the front of the card then you can display another piece of dsp that shows through from the inside of the card.  You can use this design with any patterned paper, it doesn’t have to be Christmas.

Supplies

Real Red Cardstock measuring 7 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored on the 7 1/2″ side at 3 1/4″

White Cardstock measuring 4 ” x 5 1/4″ for inside the card

DSP (designer series pattern paper) measuring 5 1/4 ” x 3″ and coordinating piece measuring 1″ x 5 1/4″  (I used Sweetest Christmas DSP available for purchase in my online store)

Adhesive

Steps

  1. Cut a piece of cardstock 7 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
  2. Score and fold the cardstock at 3 1/4″ along the 7 1/2″ side
  3. Adhere the white cardstock to the inside of the card leaving a small border around the edges
  4. Adhere the dsp measuring 3″ x 5 1/4″ to the front of the card leaving a small border around the edges
  5. Adhere the coordinating piece of dsp (1″ x 5 1/4″) on top of the white cardstock along the right hand side. See picture below.
  6. Decorate the front of the card.  I added another smaller piece of dsp, a die cut candy cane and real red ribbon.
  7. Add your sentiment to the inside of the card
  8. Don’t forget to decorate your envelope
