I recently posted a fun card called the Floating Cut-Out card on my Facebook page and was asked for instructions. So first I wanted to say I was inspired by another demonstrator named Heidi and I followed her tutorial which I am sharing below. So thank you Heidi! Floating Cut-Out Basic Dimensions & Supplies:
Cardstock (base): 4 1⁄4” x 11”, scored in half at 5 1⁄2”
Cardstock (mechanism): 3⁄4” x 3”, scored at 3⁄4”, 1 1⁄2”, 2 1⁄4”
White or Vanilla cardstock: 4” x 5 1⁄4”
Patterned Paper (front): 4” x 5 1⁄4”
Shape die (Square, Circle, or Rectangle die)
Stamps, cardstock, ink, adhesive, and embellishments to finish
Directions
1. First fold the cardstock (base) on the center score line.
2. Next, adhere the patterned paper to the front of the card base centered with equal size border on all four sides.
3. Then using a die, cut a piece from the card front only in the upper half (and save it).
4. Adhere the White or Vanilla cardstock to the inside of the card base.
5. Then fold the cardstock (mechanism) on the score lines all the same directions to create a square shape.
6. Next, flatten the center fold on the cardstock mechanism. Add glue from the top edge to the first score line only on the top and bottom of the cardstock mechanism. Place the mechanism along the inside center of the cardbase along the score line and close the card. The top of the mechanism should adhere to the top inside of the cardbase and the bottom of the mechanism should adhere to the white cardstock on the bottom inside of the card. When you open the card it should form a box.
7. Close the card. Adhere the die-cut piece from step 3 to the part of the mechanism that shows through the hole and align the die-cut piece inside the hole.
8. Lastly, finish decorating the card as desired!
