May Day Basket Surprise!
Yesterday was May Day and it was also my granddaughter, Hazel’s 1st birthday. She and her parent’s are visiting family in San Diego and celebrated her birthday with them. In a couple weeks, I get to see my granddaughter and my son Kyle and Hazel’s mom when we travel to Denver, Colorado for my brother’s memorial service. I am super excited because I haven’t seen Hazel and my son since last fall when I flew out to Portland, Oregon where they live. She has grown so much since then and is starting to walk. Anyway, I digress.
Last year for May Day, I surprised the two little girls next door with May Day baskets and their mom Erin had to explain the tradition to them. I made the baskets out of gingham designer series paper, a flower paper punch and a coordinating button in the center of the flower. They are very easy to make. Then I filled them with some sweet treats. So imagine my surprise today when I found this adorable little May Day basket/cup on my doorstep. They remembered I have given them baskets last year and so they gave me a little cup with a handle containing paper flowers attached to popsicle sticks and a lollipop and some chocolate candies. Wasn’t that sweet? Their Mom said they made them in Girl Scouts. Here is a picture of the May basket/cup below.
