Double Wonder Cards

double wonder card layout 4

There are many one sheet wonder templates floating around on Pinterest that show you have to maximize your designer series paper and get the most cards out of one sheet.  Today I want to share the Double Wonder Cards template and layouts and show you how to cut your designer series paper in a way that creates 11 cards with no waste.  The Double Wonder Cards template is designed for two half sheets of designer series pattern paper (DSP) that measure 6″ x 12″ each.  When you use the cutting template and instructions below you will be able to make four different card layouts and one of them is a fun fold!

Supplies*

-Two pieces of designer series pattern paper measuring 6″ x 12 ” each

-paper trimmer/scorer

-4 pieces of White cardstock measuring 3 1/4″ x 5″

-11 card bases measuring 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2 ” scored in half at 4 1/4″ (they can all be white cardstock or they can be color coordinated to match one of the colors in the pattern paper you selected)

-adhesive or liquid glue

-ribbon (enough for four cards)

-White cardstock for 11 labels (so you’ll need a stamp set for your sentiment, ink, and a paper punch or a die to cut out your label)

-Stampin’ Dimensionals for adhering the labels

*Supplies can be purchased from the online store using this link.

Instructions for Card Layout #1 (4 cards – two from each half sheet of DSP)

  1. First, place the 12″ piece across the top of your trimmer and cut 4 1/2″ off the end of the DSP (then repeat all these steps using the second half sheet of DSP)
  2. Along the 6″ side cut the DSP in half at 3″.
  3. Then along the 4 1/2″ side cut at 1 1/2 ” twice leaving you with 6 pieces measuring 1 1/2″ x 3″ from each design or a total of 12
  4. Mix and match the pieces and adhere them to a 3 1/4″ x 5″ piece of white cardstock leaving an equal size border on all sides.
  5. Next, add Ribbon across the center. Then adhere it to the card base.
  6. Lastly stamp your sentiment and punch or die cut your greeting/label and add it to the center.  Depending on your pattern you can make the 4 cards either portrait and/or landscape.

Card Layout #2  Fun Fold (makes 4 cards – two from each half sheet of DSP)

  1. Place the 7 1/2″ piece of DSP across the top of your trimmer and cut off 4 inches so the piece measures 4″x6″ (repeat these steps with the second half sheet of DSP).  Set aside the remaining piece of DSP measuring 3 1/2 x 6″ for card layout 3 and 4 below.
  2. Next place the 6″ side across the top of your trimmer and cut off 3/4″ and save it for card layout #3.
  3. Then cut the remaining piece into one inch strips (4 strips measuring 1″ x 5 1/4″ from each pattern for a total of 8)
  4. Score one end of your card base at 1 1/4″.  Fold the cardstock back toward the front. (optional: glue the flap down)
  5. Adhere on strip of DSP to the flap. Adhere the second piece of DSP to the inside of the card on the far right.
  6. Stamp and punch or die cut your greeting and add it with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the left side of the your card base.

  2. Next center the designer series paper at the top and bottom with even space around all four sides.
  3. Then across the middle add the 4″ x 3/4″ strip you set aside previously.
  4. Stamp your sentiment. Then punch or die cut your sentiment and add it with Stampin’ Dimensionals in the center.  Repeat these steps with your other sheet of pattern paper.
